Han Dynasty
Began in 206 B.C when Liu Bang, prince of Han defeated Qin army, which was an army formed by Qin leaders who took over after the first emperors death. Although people disliked Qin Leaders for their ways of tyranny, Bang continued Qin ways before slowly incorporating Confucian ways. Once emperor, he moved the capital to Ch’ang-an, and gave many friends nobility and fiefs (small plot of land). He kept most of his power through control of the people in his conquest to unify China. Eventually, the imperial nobility was broken up and in ushered Wu Ti’s reign (141-87B.C). He as a leader showed great military expansion expanding the boarders of Vietnam and Korea. He then later, moved some 2 million people North West to colonize the area. This eventually lead to the creation of the Silk Road. Other than expansion, he focused on education eventually creating the first book showing all of China’s known geography.
Today, many say that this was actually two separate dynastys. The first being when the rich families allied one another through marriage to eventually gain more power than the emperor. Then later, Yuan Ti’s widow placed all relatives in the gov. where her nephew Wang May declared himself emperor of the new dynasty. Eventually a group of peasants named the Red Eyebrows united with Han descendants, led by Liu Hsiu killed Ti and ushered in the second dynasty.
